With all businesses moving onto the internet to give themselves exposure into new markets they need online software that gives them functionality, flexibility and standardization. This can become an issue when they don't make good strategic decisions when first implementing their online plan. An example of this was a potential client had build their whole online presence inside a CMS that was built ten years ago. Because the agency that had constructed it had not kept up with the times, new functionality that the client needed had not been developed so they started looking at other frameworks to fit their needs. But what they did not know is that they could not get access to information they had created and hence this business was locked in so the data could not be moved. This sort of thing is not an isolated case when Content Management Systems were first created everyone was in a similar position.
